Slow Science and social participation

Other ways of doing science

We often identify contemporary science with large-scale science, known as mega-science or Big Science, with projects and discoveries that grab big headlines and international recognition. By contrast, little science is connected to the Slow Science movement, which calls for time to think, to experiment and to fail in science. Time to digest the results and discuss them with other disciplines.

Citizen participation in science and technology has also acquired relevance in recent times. Social stakeholders and movements wish to be involved in scientific discussion, which has become a matter of social debate. These are other valid and stimulating ways of understanding scientific activity.
