Women in the technological industry
Turning stereotypes on their head
Nowadays, the technological industry is a male-dominated territory. There are few women, and even fewer in managerial positions. The gender gap, which is the result of a low ratio of women choosing to study science and technology courses, is increasingly recognised as a problem that has to be tackled in both the public and private sectors, as well as by political leaders.
There are many initiatives, events and awareness-raising actions that endeavour to foster the empowerment of women in the technological industry. The Mobile World Capital, in collaboration with Barcelona City Council, launched an international competition in search of technological projects: the winners, to be announced during this session, will receive support for implementing their solutions in Barcelona.
